Gay & Bisexual Men's Therapy Group

Group therapy can be useful in ways that go beyond individual work:  in sharing concerns and problems with others, we learn from one another and better understand our own situation.  Groups are especially effective ways of dealing with interpersonal relationships, intimacy with others, depression, anxiety and feelings of isolation.

I believe group work can be especially valuable for gay men because it offers us the opportunity for deeper connection and intimacy with others.  Before we came out, many of us felt isolated and alone – feelings that can continue even if we are very “out” now.  Learning to connect with one another more deeply through group work can enrich our relationships and interpersonal lives.

There are many types of groups.  This group is focused on change and growth in our ability to connect with one another and to create and sustain the sort of relationships we want.

Many of us experience a sort of anxiety in connecting with others in social situations.  Groups can be particularly helpful ways to deal with shyness, social anxiety and issues around intimacy.  Participants in this group will gain a greater capacity for fulfilling friendships, dating connections and committed relationships.  While interpersonal relationships are a major focus of the group, participants will also have the opportunity to work on self-defined goals.

Groups offer members an opportunity to support one another.  But this group is more challenging than a simple support group.  The focus is not on coping with life, but with getting more of what you want in life through coaching and therapeutic work.

Group size is limited to 5-7 men.   If you're interested in finding out more, please email me.
