My policies

Your Appointment

Counseling and psychotherapy appointments are for 50 minutes. You’ll get the most from your session if you arrive on time. Please give me at least 24 hours notice if you need to change or cancel your appointment – otherwise, you will be charged for the session if I’m unable to fill the space with another client. This policy keeps time available for the greatest number of clients.

Confidentiality: Notice of Information Practices

I take your privacy very seriously. To help you understand issues regarding privacy, confidentiality and how information is handled, I’ve written a policy that you will be given at your first session with me. You can read a copy online by clicking here. If you have any questions regarding this, please ask me.

About Fees and Insurance

Payment for services is expected at the completion of each session. Payment may be made by cash or by check. If you have special needs, please ask me and I will do my best to accommodate you. I keep a limited number of reduced-fee spaces available in my practice to accommodate clients who would benefit from therapy, but who have limited income.

I work with insurance as an "out of network" provider, and many of my clients receive reimbursement for my fees this way.  You will want to contact your insurance company to determine your benefits.  Clients pay me at the end of each session and I furnish them with the forms needed to submit to their insurance carrier.

I don't bill insurance companies directly or sit on provider panels. That's because insurance companies and managed care networks typically require therapists to submit information about their clients that is very personal. These companies do not always treat this information with the confidence that I do. In addition, they interfere with the relationship between therapist and client by dictating the number of sessions and types of services they will pay for. These policies compromise the ability of the therapist to provide the best service possible to his or her clients.

Questions, problems, etc.?

One of my goals as your therapist is to help you be more powerful in your life. For that reason it’s important to me that you feel free to ask questions about my policies and procedures, and to feel free to complain or bring up disagreements or problems. Of course, I’ll try my best not to give you any reason to have a complaint in the first place, but I pledge to you that I will listen thoroughly and do my best to resolve any problems that may come up during our work together. Feel free to email me or call my voicemail: (404) 874-8536.
